Norwegian and Danish Viking rendevouz in Roskilde
« on: July 14, 2015, 19:24:33 »
A special Viking event. I visited Roskilde fjord today hoping to get a glimpse of the Norwegian Saga Oseberg viking ship that's visiting Roskilde these days - as I understand it's a kind of historical journey for the ship. Unfortunately the ship was out for a spin at Roskilde fjord but I got this with my Minolta 135mm on a Fuji X-E1 .. 100% crop.

As far as I understand, the first reconstruction of this ship sunk after 20 seconds - this ship made it to Roskilde!

Nice shots Fons - is that Havhingsten? If it is, I believe it's the largest one found and reconstructed yet.

The first one does not look like any place around Roskilde (or mainland of Denmark for that matter)? The house in the background looks like England, Scotland or Ireland etc.

Here is a smaller ship in front of the Viking ship museum.

Thanks for looking - a few extra.

From the viking ship workshop - oak logs and a small ship in its making. And a small "tourist boat" to the left in the frame - to the right is the Norwegian Oseberg ship.
