Interesting to see that wheat, Triticum, grows at this altitude and i suspect hence a shorter growing season.

I heard people all the time talking about buck wheat, the one with no gluten.
I'm not sure which one is in this field.

Buckwheat is not a wheat but a completely different crop, not even a grain.
Barley is quite common in the Himalayas being a staplefood, like tsampa, i have also encountered  a red millet variety.
It is hard to tell from the image what grain we are looking at.
