I spent June in Namibia on an extended tour of the north. We visited Etosha and enjoyed its wildlife, and then Damaraland and Kaokoland right up to the Angolan border for their landscapes. The roads were frequently no more than a track. This is strictly 4x4 country, other vehicles need not even try – even so I wrote off three tyres. The copious amounts of fine dust was a major challenge for the vehicles as well as for the photo equipment. We travelled with 2 vehicles with friends who know the areas well, which was a great advantage. The photography was good, and I came back with some interesting images. Like all new places, a second visit would provide even more photo opportunities as the environment is then a bit better known. Who knows, maybe there is a next time. We travelled nearly 7500km in the four weeks – the distances are just vast. Some images to whet the appetite for future adventure.
