Black Capped visitor
« on: April 09, 2017, 17:39:06 »
This fine young fellow was captured this AM in my backyard.  Rather slow going, but still enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature.

D500 Sigma 150-600mm f/6.4  ISO 1000

Cropped about 30% for comp

Advice and comments always appreciated.

Cheers

Randy

Two candidates for this little chap, Marsh Tit or Willow Tit!

Nice capture.

But if this birdie tweets with an American accent I may have well be wrong!

It looks very much like our local Black-capped chickadees (Poecile atricapillus) as indicated by the title of the thread. Just about to take off?

Thanks guys:

Yes, it def. is a black capped Chickadee.  They are the bravest of birds in my backyard, often sitting patiently while I am reloading the feeders, and then are down in seconds.  Nuthatches or tufted titmouse for second boldest!

Oivind - he was indeed getting ready to lift off.

Cheers

Thought so, I think Chickadee's maybe be related Eurasian Tits as they are very similar!
