Loon Sunrise
« on: April 07, 2017, 03:16:10 »
This common loon was sailing into the sunrise, as if greeting the new day.  A wonderful time to be out on the lake with them.  I always try to be on the lake well before sunrise, so I can find them and be ready for the early light.

D4  f/4.5  1/1250s  ISO 1000

Taken from my little boat,  LoonieToo.

Advice and comments always appreciated.

Cheers

Randy

love the detail of the head, transition of strong to weaker light across the image. Also, the water surface has that visible silky, smooth, calm effect (almost like a long exposure of water even though this is not a long exposure). Lastly, some make like or dislike the blurred reflection. Mongo thinks it is a plus in this case and in tune with the water surface character.

Still wish we had these creatures over here !

Very nice when seen large

Gorgeous detail on the head of the loon

and the color gradients in the water are very pleasant

Agree with the above comments, and would add the feeling of silent movement with the little wave at the 'bow' and the wake at the stern...Nice!
Wonder what this does?
