Internal IR-filter sizes
« on: February 27, 2017, 17:15:47 »
Hi good folks. I bought a IR-filter for my old D40, planning to convert it for some IR fun. But during another experiment I managed to fry the D40. So no need to try converting that one now. I wonder what other model Nikons I can convert using this filter. D40X and D60 seems to be safe, but what about D80? Anyone worked on these models?

Best regards
Frank

Thanks Pluton, I've seen that. But appreciate you taking the time to reply :-)
Guess I jst have to take a leap of faith, since I have located a D80 in very fine condition for a reasonable price.

These DX models are largely sized similarly inside. Thus, I moved an internal filter (UV pass) from a D40X to a D3200, and it fitted.

I also moved a filter from D70 to D80 with no problem.

Thank you all for answering. I'll take a leap of faith on that D80 and hope for the best :-)
Tried to attach a new connector for a custom shutter release to my D40, but had an accident :-)
Clumsy fingers and a nasty burn from the soldering iron! Will not happen again.
