Orchid after Christmas

A result of working on a John Hedgecoe DOF project. Nikon D7200, 85mm 1.8g, f/2.8, 1/160s, ISO 250, spot metering.

The right half of the frame has nice contrasting patterns and colours. So the general recommendation would be to go closer, frame carefully, and pay attention to the interplay of subject and background.

Thanks for responding. Just the main flower mostly. I am trying to figure out the D7200 focus system. I am not having a good time with it since coming over from the D3300. My keeper rate has diminished substantially, pretty disappointing really. Granted, this shot was shot at f/2.8, with the D3300, I had very little trouble in this area.

I like the shot as it is, reminds me more of a flower bukett than an individual flower.

Macro work is tripod generally, except for situations with lighting galore AND it is Manual Focus always. Most of the tome focussing occurs by leavon the helicoid as is and moving the camera or the subject.
