D810's WB Off
« on: September 30, 2016, 22:15:47 »
Just wonder if any of you have noticed the WB Flash setting is not correct since the last Firmware update?

Both my D810's when set to the Flash WB setting show up in post, either Capture NXD or Adobe Raw not set to 5400K as designed. In Capture NXD the colour temp is 6461K with -0.10 Tint. Both are set to 0.0 in the WB adjustment so there is no bias influencing the file.

Camera firmware for both is:
C: 1.11
L: 2.015

Same here...
Same value as yours in NXD and View.

Opened in Capture One pro 9, and the values became 6457 (essencially the same)...

UPDATE: Nikon are now investigating this. They have a Raw NEF, a SOOC JPEG and screen shots of my Capture NX-D window. We'll see what they come up with but essentially, when I change the WB to Flash it should be set at 5400K, not the current values.

UPDATE: Nikon have had a look at the screen shots, the SOOC JPEG, maybe the Raw NEF in Capture NX-D and determined there is nothing wrong with my D810's. They say the the WB numbers in the manual are "approximate and not set values".

That seems odd to me since from the screen shots, the only anomaly is the Flash WB setting, the others are nearly exactly the same.

Anyway, note for those who shoot in JPEG only, don't expect the Flash WB to be what the manual says especially if you are shooting with non-Nikon flash units.
