SA is the home of antelopes.

Fons. they look like Kudu to me as well.

Trying not to look like prey is a healthy approach while photographing wildlife. A nice picture Ron. Like the horizontal duality of the image

Very nice Ron, I would love to know where it was taken.

The antelope are Eland. This is the largest of all antelope, and males can weight as much as 940kg. An adult male stands about 1.6m at the shoulder.

Peter is correct - these are Eland.
Kudu has a very distinctive twisted horn and stripe over the bridge of the nose usually.
I seem to recall the most expensive Eland is called Horizon and valued at something like $10 000 000.......

Your earlier post said over 900 kg.  That is a huge animal.

Ron, they get big all right!

However, there is quite a spread of weights and quite a large difference between males and females too.

There is a very good close-up of a big male here http://safaritalk.net/topic/16602-the-hundred-acre-wood-and-the-search-for-heffalumps-and-woozles/page-2, about half-way down the page. It shows how heavy their necks become as they grow older.
