Voigtlander 125 Apo Lanthar Tripod Ring
« on: July 26, 2016, 08:18:10 »
Hello to everybody.
I'm new in the forum and I must to say that for me  it's the best forum to nikon users, thank you to all the people who contribute to it.
My question is if there is a tripod ring which I can use to attach to the CV 125 Apo Lanthar.
I know I can use the PN11 to attach directly a Nikon camera and the Astat-Nex with Novoflex adapter to attach a Sony E (Sony A6000 in my case), but I'd want to know if there is a tripod ring to attach the CV125 without extension tube.
Greetings from Spain

There is no available place anywhere on the lens barrel for a tripod ring. The focusing collar occupies everything.

As you are using the lens on a mirrorless camera, the only option would be an adapter for the Sony with a tripod mounting arrangement on it.

A nice setup although not giving the impression of utmost stability, if I may say so.

Some kind of prop-up support might be feasible at the front end of the adapter. Nothing rotates here as soon as the lens is attached, unless orientation is changed from landscape to portrait. Thus the added support either must allow that or be easy to remove, then stick right back.

Thank you Bjorn, I will try to do something like what you suggest to improve stability.
Perhaps a sort of rubber wedge helps...

Lab-type rubber bottle stops or asthma inhalers have proved useful in earlier cases.

The true NG-style nerd solution, however, is attaching a much more beefy L-bracket to the existing one. I did a similar modification to the wimpy tripod foot of my 500/4P, like the attached picture shows. Due to the need for rotating the camera, even this solution cannot be perfect, but should surely help a lot. It did wonders with the 500/4.
