Jumping date&time
« on: July 05, 2016, 20:41:33 »
It has happened twice. The date and time suddenly changes during a brief field trip, so the date (Day, Month and Year) changes from correct to totally wrong. Today is 5th of July 2016. When I came back home I had three dates, correct, and to other: 2016 and 2061 and 2068. Clock time was however correct. Anyone that has observed something similar? My camera is Nikon D750.

Solution found: I use GPS, and the camera was set to get "clock from satelite" - and there were obviously som bad data out there. Sorry for posting!

So, you are 'Back from the Future' ... :D

I set all my cameras (with GPS support, which comprises the vast majority of them) to update camera time through GPS. Not having had any hiccups so far, but better keep a watch (sic) on any upcoming issues.

Was your camera connected to a computer during your trip? Is it or your uploading software set to automatically update the time to your computer's time when you upload photos? I will guess you're connecting to a computer with a different time zone and it is resetting your camera. The computer is probably getting its time updated by the internet.

For international travelers Bjørn's method above is an excellent one. I need to check my software and camera to see how it's set. My cameras don't receive GPS. Mine are set by my primary computer and Nikon Transfer 2.

Hi David, no I did not connect to any computer. It was only a short one-hour trip in my neighbourhood. After a trip last night - when I had deselected this option in the camera - all word as normal/expected!
