Mountain panorama at sunset
« on: March 12, 2016, 08:07:07 »
Hello,
I was snowshoe hiking one sunday afternoon while the sky was dull grey and then, just at sunset, the sky cleared :-)
D300 + AFS12-24G. 5 images stiched

The scenery looks fabulous. A pity the uploaded file is so small that one cannot really appreciate its qualities. I would wish the contrast had been higher and the overall impression less bland. Is it due to file size? Colour profile is tagged sRGB so there is no mismatch in that respect to explain the web rendition.

I suggest you work the file over and try again. NG allows file size up to 2 MB. Sometimes one actually needs using a file towards that maximum size to get the proper outcome to the web. Do note the difference between pixel dimensions and file size.

Quick levels adjustment and a channel mixer overlay.  Nice image!  :)

Hello.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I Finally took some time to work on this pano again.
Here is a larger version.
By the way, I used Hugin for the stiching and Darktable for the image editing.

I like this version; you managed to improve the general look while preserving reasonably the highlights.
You are the first one I see around the forum using Hugin; I have been using it for years and like it (also because it is free) and really don't understand how this software is not as popular as I think it should be.

Yanick, the sky in that image feels much more alive.
