Birna, on the naturfotograf site, related that this was an impressive lens when it first came out.  I always thought it would be cool to own one, but the longish minimum focusing distance has always put me off.  I mollified myself with a copy of the 80-200/4 AiS, which focuses much closer and is still a useable lens for some purposes.

My copy of the 80-200/2.8 AiS is a stellar optic. True, the lens is not very practical in use due to its significant bulk and heft, and also the longish near limit is a draw back. However,  for applications in which these drawbacks don't matter, it is excellent.

A few examples (last one is IR with Z5; the others mainly with D2X),

What do you need to know? It is CPU-enabled thus all EXIF is avalable. Or do you think of locations etc.?

You can of course share these images on your site.

720nm filter. It was a grey and dull overcast day, thus not much like the sunshine scenes in which sky is getting black an clouds are white. I went for the vestiges of colour in the tree foliage instead. Taken in end of March, thus the birches hadn't leafed fully out. Bright red trees are evergreen conifers (Spruce).

I think the sharpness, clarity of the colour rendition, and the not-too-aggressive image contrast all add to the overall pleasing impact.
