Ron, thanks for taking your time to post the image with the vignetting corrected.  I noticed the bird simply because of the snowy part of the distant mountain right behind the bird.  Perfect composition!

Thank you Armando and John. John, you Frank and Akira have given me something to think about regarding vignetting in photos without people.  Sometimes it feels like the default lens correction in ACR is too much.  My gut reaction to this one is if I want to have some vignetting it should be a little less than the amount introduced by the 70-300 on its own.
