Atlas Pano
« on: February 15, 2016, 23:23:12 »

January, 2016, Offshore Chile, around 53 degrees South
7 shots stitched in ACR, 70-300 VR @ 70mm, D800, landscape orientation.

Photographs frame and flatten objects.  In this case time is flattened rather than just frozen as the ship was moving to the left @ 18 knots.  This was shot from left to right.

From this batch:  https://ronscubadiver.wordpress.com/2016/02/15/another-day-in-heaven-ii/

Very impressive series, Ron !!   That must have been an interesting boattrip in Chile.  Did it take long?

The cruise was two weeks, plus you need at least an extra day at the start.  This particular cruise offered an opportunity to see the inside passage of Chile.  The down side is you don't get much time on land.

I like these pictures

I did not comment because you call it "Atlas" and I am irritated.

Atlas for me is in Northern Maroc. Andes are in Chile....

Thank you Elsa, Frank and Eric.  I chose the name "Atlas" because the rounded rock in the center made me think of Atlas holding the earth on his shoulders.  Be careful, lest he shrug.

Ah. Not in the geographical sense but in the mythological. In Maroc yoou get both at once. 😊

Impressive and beautiful rendition Ron. I enjoy the whole batch.

I was born in the last city south of Spain. You can actually see the mountains in north Morocco from my hometown, they are that close.

Frank, before today I never heard of the Atlas mountains despite their 2500 km span across North Africa.  Thank you golunvolo.  To put the concept of being South in perspective, Houston is as close to the equator as Cairo, Egypt.

As you travel everywhere, Maroc seems to be a place where one can still go in the Mahgreb, because it is stable politically. Jimmi Hendrix loved it there and you will find his traces there too. Great deserts, great mountains, great tradition and architecture ... downside for you: no naked women in the streets ... Haha ;-)

Morocco is spectacular in many ways, but not as a venue for street photography.  They don't like to be photographed, and I was even threatened with violence by a man who objected to my shot of a building with him somewhere off to the side.

I was going to ask, but you saved me the trouble.  I wonder if this is a problem in all Muslim countries or just the ones in North Africa and the Middle East.  Some guy who was incidental to a wide area shot went ballistic in Buenos Aires, but he did not come after me.  Generally, I have found North and South America  to be photo friendly, along with those countries in Europe that have not banned publication of one's image without their consent.

Morocco is different. It can get violent very fast photo-wise. Some excellent opportunities too. Just have to be careful.
