One morning stroll in Minneapolis
« on: February 06, 2016, 05:32:07 »
May 25th, 2014 was a beautiful sunny morning in Minneapolis. I went for a walk around downtown and uptown Minneapolis for few hours. All the below photos were taken that morning using a mobile phone camera (HTC M9).
Some says, the best camera is the one you have in your hand.  ::)

1. Nicollet Mall, downtown.

2. Old vs New

3. Coffee and mobile phone. Could I live without these two?

4. City of Lakes

5. Lake Calhoun

6. Kayaks.

7. Lake Calhoun

8. Bikes/Cycles for rent:

9. One of the many eateries in Uptown Minneapolis. People love to sit outside in summer.

10. Unsharp!

11.

12. Uptown Minneapolis

13. Macbeth

14. Lowry Hill... A smaller neighborhood in Uptown.

Comments are always welcome.

Nice set of pictures, but nr 2 and 7 stands out to me as the most pleasing. The other pictures are too empty to give a sense of place and being in a city. Even if the time of day is quite early in the morning, one have to use people or action as a foreground to give the viewer a sense of being there. One have to decide between making street photos or urban landscapes. To me there is no middle ground. When you use phone with a wide lens, you should be close to the action. Thats just my opinion for what its worth :)

I love #1 and #9. I feel in the hands of a great eye like you any camera will do.

Nice series Anirban, I like particularly the transition of the blues in #5.

The images shown in this topic look over-sharpened, is it a setting in Flickr when copying?  In Flickr at normal size they look 'normal'.

Enjoyed the trip through your images of this town. Particularly noticed the blues in some images. #5 is Mongo's favourite.

Frank, thank you. You are very kind.

John, thanks a lot. Glad you like some of them.
Regarding Flickr - I'm not at all happy with Flickr. Whenever I select a different sizes in flickr, it screws up the quality of the image. Some of them look so much better in flickr. I'm gonna try different hosting solutions soon.

Mongo, thank you. Glad you enjoyed the trip.  :)

Flickr: Difficult to judge any picture's technical quality if seen in a forum.
