Hello from Toronto

RBSinTo here, but you can call me Robert.
There are some of you here who may know me from other sites such as Nikon Café or Fotozones.
I've been shooting since 1977 and am one of the 17 people left in the world who only shoots 35mm colour slide film and doesn't own a Digital camera.
I'm mainly a Candid Street photographer and do it with laughably outdated, hopelessly backward Nikon manual focus film SLRs and rangefinders from the previous century.

You are very welcome. Despite all your hardships you hopefully find stuff of interest here on NG and people to discuss with ....

It is the final image that counts and I guess it ends up being digital if showing here on the web site. Thus more a technical matter of where and when it gets the pixels, bits and bytes.

Shooting with my gear isn't any hardship at all.
It's all I've ever known and I can't imagine using anything else.
Besides as you pointed out, it's not what one uses, but only what results one gets that count.
And I'm sure I'll find more than enough interesting Street and PJ here to satisfy me.

Just teasing, Robert. I still have a few old the oldies  (Nikon F, F2 Titan, and F3, plus a few Nikon rangefinders S, SP, S3) floating around with the appropriate vintage lenses to match. However, no film for me the last 10-15 years and in fact, I shoot my rangefinder lenses on a Sony A7 (heresy, I know).

What we are interested in here at NG is the visual idea itself and its implementation to become a completed photograph. The technical process is up to the individual and their preferences.

Your film kit sounds similar to mine:
SLRs: motorized,meterless F, motorized F2AS,motorized F3P, motorized FM-2, and motorized FA, plus a small mountain of Nikon, and third-party manual focus lenses.
Rangefinders: Nikon S3s, SP,  and CV R2S Bessa, plus a small mountain of Nikon and CV lenses.
Difference is they're all I shoot with.

Welcome Robert - I remember you from Fotozones and I also remember your imagery (results and not media).

I still have my old film gear and shoot a roll of film once and again. I don't have have gear to scan the film myself and prices on scanning film scares me away...

Welcome, I still shoot slide film too, but only for projection based projects. With my scanner I find it is more difficult to get pleasing results with slides than it is with negative film, so prefer negative film or digital for most other projects.

What is your allure to using only slide film and not negative film?

I learned photography using narrow latitude colour slide films, and just feel more at home using them than negative stocks.

Hi Robert, we might all shoot digital but many of us (still) enjoy using the classic Nikkor lenses :)

The 50/1.2 Ai-S is still one of my favourites, the oldest I used was a 16/3.5 Auto from the early 70s if I remember correctly.

My oldest Nikon lens is one of my rangefinder lenses: either 85 f2 or 105 2.5 both in Nikon S mount from about 1954 or '55.

Welcome to the new NG! I must say it's really great to see so many familiar names popping up here! I still love the film look but unfortunately so far my F5 is siting on my shelf collecting dust,,, I have a project in mind and the more I hear the more keen I get to wipe the dust off ;)
