Please Help Identify This Flower
« on: June 16, 2015, 01:26:36 »
Not sure what forum to put this request. I don’t know what this flower is. It is in the sun, but beyond that I can’t name it. Taken with the Nikon D810 with 8mm of extension on the Zeiss Otus APO 55mm, f/1.4.

Any ideas?

Could be a Camassia which grows 60-100cm tall

Agree, it is likely some kind of Camassia. I thought that they grew mostly in the Western US. However they are also cultivated. Is this a wild specimen or a cultivated specimen?

No wait - there is one kind that grows in the East. Don't recall the species at the moment. If I think of it or find it, I'll post it later. "-)

This is cultivated, part of a large outdoor garden in mid-Michigan. Located in direct sun.

Michael,

Its a Wild Hyacinth (Camassia Scilloides).  When we lived in the Cleveland area there was a place in the Metroparks where this plant grew, in the wild, in profusion. I spend hours in the area attempting to photograph them.  I will look back over my images and look for some of my images.
