Victims of the prevailing wind?

Thanks Hugh, I was thinking what the cause could be myself. The trees are located at the edge of a forest with tall trees (to the left) and a meadow with moist soil (to the right). Maybe stretching towards light and then the extra weight causing the trees to tilt and sink into the the soil. On the other hand, it could also be characteristics of the specific tree species - looks like a multi trunked Beech (smooth trunks).

Thanks Hugh!

Nice scene, although I am not sure about the orange circle.  A lab artifact?

I develop the films myself. But, Catlabs respools some other brand film, probably Kodak (i haven't checked) and somehow each roll has this spot/dot at the end of the film.

It seems i need to wind the film just shy of the designated numbers to avoid this (i only found this pattern with this roll). Usually i do crop it out, but since it took on the colour of the sun that happens to be positioned where the dot is, i thought to do something different this time. YMMV of course

What lenses are you using Hans?  Are they from a 4x5 large format camera for example?

The write ups about the Shenhao 617 seem quite favourable.

The Shenhao is certainly quite nice, i have the PTB617, which is the folding model. I do use large format lenses and have taken care to make sure the image circle is large enough to cover 6x17 cm and space left for movements which ups the requirement to 5x7 inch lenses.

Very nice comparision, Lars !

Many thanks, John! Apart from the tree and the different season, I found the "white spots" on both images to be a fun similarity.

Watching Andrews shot, I remembered this tree from the local lake. Also tilting towards the water - an old tree with twisted and broken branches. It was it's last summer (2024) standing - a storm later brought it down. Nikon Z 50/f1.8 @f1.8 - intentionally kept the light fall-off.
