Danish Country Road (IR)
« on: June 11, 2015, 22:45:53 »
Visiting Erik in Copenhagen always lead us to scenic spots. This time we were exploring a country road going ruler straight for as long as the eye could see. My IR-modified Nikon D5300 has recommenced its service for IR captures after I downloaded an AGPS key file to it. Before the built-in GPs was so sluggish and slow to get geolocations that it bordered on the ridiculous. For me, being deprived of a reliable GPS device makes the camera useless. 'Now, after the AGPS update, the D5300 surprised me by being much quicker in obtaining a satelitte fix. This, and the fact the body work is red, led to the D5300 being accepted into my field pack again.

The 300 mm f/4 PF E Nikkor appears to be excellent for IR shooting. A pleasant surprise as well.

An unusual but pleasing sight.

Who did modify your D5300? What kind of modification is it?

Thank you

Frank

The camera was purchased new (Norway) and modified by a Lifepixel internal IR filter (R72 equivalent).

I keep wondering who Birna Rørslett is, Bjørn? Forgot to ask you when we spoke on Saturday, and I also see that on emails from you it also stand both Bjørn and Birna..

Very interesting. It is nice to have an instrument which allows us to see the world in a different light. (On a technical nit, it seems to have a very slight tilt to the left.)
