TelyT-R Adapter.
« on: August 11, 2025, 21:12:42 »
What is the recommended adapter for Leica R to Z? Picked up a mind Telyt-R 350mm at a estate sale.

Thank you,
Leo

Rayqual tends to make good adapters.

I've been using Rayqual adapters for m4/3, Fuji, Leica-L and Sony FE mounts and never been disappointed.

I can also recommend Novoflex adapters without reserve.

I have a few Novoflex adapters, they're pretty nice.

Another possibility would be to connect the Telyt equipped with a Leica R to Sony E adapter to a Sony E to Nikon Z adapter (e.g. Funmount ETZ Pro). This gives the Telyt focus confirmation and the focal length and speed are automatically transferred to the camera. With a 350mm lens, focus confirmation is a great thing.

Stacking adapters *might* lead to instability or wobbling of the lens attachment. Plus, since most third-party adapters tend to be a smidgen on the short side, you can end up losing a lot of the near focus range, in order to still reach infinity focus. The latter is  a real issue with shorter focal lengths.

Hello Birna, as you said: “might”, but doesn't have to. I have several cheap Nikon F to NEX adapters from China and each one has the correct infinity setting when combined with a NEX to Z adapter (24mm to 500mm). I also have a few F to Z adapters that are too short, but nothing that can't be solved with a screwdriver and some thin metal foil...
For me, the ability to use manual non-CPU lenses with working focus confirmation is a big advantage, especially the longer focal lengths from 135mm.
