Loon doing early spring head throw
« on: September 22, 2025, 16:15:45 »
This fellow was captured a number of year ago but never posted here.  It was early enough in the spring that most of the foliage was still brown, but a few pops of green were showing up. This particular pose is fairly common and called a head throw. Despite the dramatic pose, they don't make any sound.  It is more of a stretch out the neck and mouth for swallowing a big fish exercise .

D4. 600 f/4 at f/5.6 1/640 sec.

Great shot Randy :) and the rendering of the 600/4 is excellent as always!
