Can a TC 20 teleconverter be hardware calibrated?

Background to the question is: I recently bought an used TC-20 EIII. When comparing test shots with an old AF-I TC-20 E, I noticed that the TC20 EIII did not produce images as sharp and high in contrast as the old TC 20E.
I carried out the test with a 300mm f4.0 lens on a Nikon Zf and FTZ (heavy Gitzo stand, VR off, short times, f8 and f11)

Does anyone know whether a teleconverter can be calibrated on the hardware side? AF fine tune makes no sense on a mirrorless camera? I am grateful for any advice.

Not really possible to calibrate yourself, try another TC or just use the one that is good, at f/8 - 11 there should be no difference anyway,,,
Different lenses have different results with TC's,,,

with f8 and f11 I was referring to max aperture and one stop down on a 300mm f4 with 2x converter.
Anyway - today I ordered a Nikon Z 400 4.5, will sell the AFS 300 and the converters, so the problem will be solved magically
