Rehousing vintage lenses

The video has good production values.  It was interesting to see the laser engraving being done.  I once got a cinema-style lens for zone focus use on a still camera, but I couldn't deal with the 3 pound (1.5kG) lens on a little 350g Fuji XE-2 camera.

- risk to the lens, or
- risk to the human?

It's very unprofessional, he won't be able to apply the grease evenly. He only just dab a few points on the helicoid. I was impressed until I saw what he did, something like a backyard mechanic would do in a third world nation
If he is not careful that same finger will end up in places where Grease should not be in. if he picks his nose, his nostrils will be as smooth as voigtlander

IMHO A dedicated stiff, very short haired brush of good quality is suitable to use. You don't want it to loose a hair in the threads so take care.

1 day, when I have the place and money I will buy myself a CNC machine and a lathe, I will be able to manufacture barrels myself. And yes, I will never use my finger for lubricating helicoids only for picking my nose
