And if you ask what the rectangular hole is for: There will be some reproductions of historical documents put into a kind of drawer. There used to be original documents in that place (supposedly) ... but they disappeared the one or the other way ... noone can be really sure that they were put the in the first place. The story is told here (in German): https://www.buergerfuerbeethoven.de/start/Archiv/Textarchiv/news/Wenn-das-Bonner-Beethoven-Denkmal-im-Sommer-2022__9395.html?xz=0&cc=1&sd=1&ci=9395

Frank, thank you for the pictorial report of this historical event.

It is interesting that the statue was placed "after" the mayor had given the speech.

Yes, but it would appear that his left arm still pains him, it remains in a sling...perhaps that's why he looks so grumpy  ;D ;D

What a great series Frank.
And an interesting narrative to go with each set - thank you.

Its fascinating seeing photos of a statue being renovated, then put back in place.

I used to live in Bristol, UK which became famous during Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, when the statue of Colston (who made his money shipping slaves ) was torn down by protesters & thrown into the waters of harbour
