Z5 NEF files have no preview in Windows 10

The preview for NEF files from my Z5 is not working in Windows 10. Can someone tell how to fix it?

You might try downloading the latest Nikon NEF Codec file from the Nikon Download Center and install it.

With the macOS I believe you have to update to a newer OS X version to get new codec(s). If someone knows of another way to update codec(s) with macOS I'd like to know about this.

Thanks Dave, that was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know how I installed the previous codex version, but NEF preview seemed to be always working until Z version.

I remember and forget this since it's not that often that it needs to be done. I use the DuckDuckGo search engine and that's how I "remembered" to download and install a new Nikon NEF codec when I could not get thumbnails to display my D850 NEF(s).

I suspect the previous codex version came with some Nikon software, possibly the original Capture NX.

If by preview you mean Win10 showing a thumbnail image of each NEF file in the folder, well....  the latest copy of NX Studio shows thumbnails of D500 and D5 raw files, but not D850, D780 nor Z7. I've no idea why (?)

NEF Codec updated, now all works ie Windows shows file icons for all camera models. Thanks
