Nice temple, maybe you like to explain about the site, Akira.

Nice temple, maybe you like to explain about the site, Akira.
Thank you, Fons. This is a Shingon temple called Kanzo-in which is considered to be founded at least before 1332. Its principal image is Dainichi-nyorai (Mahavairocana).
There are quite a bit of temples of different scales around the area in which I live, and it took only 7-8 minutes on foot to get to the temple.

Anemone nemorosa Wood Anemone are slowly coming into bloom these days. So I guess it's spring although the temperature doesn't feel appropriate for that season. Oh well.
Nikon Z6, Nikkor-O CRT 55mm f/1.2. Set to f/1.2 obviously. This lens will, by the way, focus to infinity on the Z, but then only a small centre area has any kind of sharpness. For close-ups this issue is moot. The lens performs very well around 1:4-1:5 magnification.

Earthquakes on Hokkaido?
There was a big earthquake in the Tohoku district yesterday (on May 1st), which is considered to be yet another afterquake of the disastrous one that attacked the same district in 2011.

True spring still is a feature of the future it seems. However, being a Nordic citizen, patience is a useful trait.
Vivek Iyer kindly informed me the NEX-5N Monochrome had a "sweep panorama" mode. Despite the depressing and inclement weather I just had to try from my porch and voila! this works. Now I can have pencil photos, not only pencil skirts :)

The 'Pier' from Ravels. The symbol of the small city in the north of Belgium. Pier is a dialect word meaning 'Earthworm'. In former times the soil was so poor that the discovery of an 'Earthworm' was a sign for a prosperous future. Hence the symbol of the town was born ;)

I like the delicate colours. Very nice image, Akira.
Thank you, Luc. Indeed, the very color as well as the shapes of the clouds made me want to shoot this scene.
Ruth has discovered the value of wild plants -- thus we are now treated to various exotic dishes. Here young fronds of Ostrich Fern Matteuccia struthiopteris.
In fact, they were delicious.

It's a common fern, if you know where to look.
I was amazed how tasty these fern sprouts were.

Ruth and I went out again to collect more edible wild plants. I directed her to a known site for the Ostrich Fern Matteuccia struthiopteris, which she found and later added to our dinner. However, this being adjacent to a small wetland, there were unpleasant specimens to be found. Here is the corm of Cowbane Cicuta virosa, which looks harmless enough and even smells delicious of carrot, parsley & celery. However don't be tempted as it is the deadliest plant in the Nordic flora. Even a tiny fragment, if ingested, will cause a violent and unpleasant death.

Socrates’ favourite drink ;)
-
Poor Socrates got a treatment with Conium maculatum, which is about as bad and unhealthy as that of our native Cicuta. Fortunately, Conium is extremely rare in our flora. Wish the same could be said about the Cicuta.

Nice wood anemone, Jag. I like how the one in the background echoes the shape of the one in the front. Those (or equivalent species) are missing from the spring woods in Alaska. Instead we get the green carpet of horsetails. It is amazing how quickly they develop. This one is is just 5 days later than the one above from the same location:
