When my girl friend returned after summer vacation, she found her shed being invaded by unwanted tenants ... common wasps had built a gigantic nest. And sure they were angry as only wasps can be. Thus we let them in peace while plotting for a retaliation. Today, they had to go. A last snapshot to document their temporary presence.

Aaargh... I don't like wasps, specially when I keep my grand children. The worst this summer were Giant Hornets :-(
-
We are confined again... This little spider tries to build a web on my desklamp... So I guess I'll might do as Robert the Bruce and tame it :-)

Which 28/1.4? I like this diffused image. LoCA is not good, but it won't be too distracting when it appears around the the foliage...

This place is special for many reason but it stand out the NG meetings. I can´t wait to see you all in person and share some time together. Everytime has been intense and special and magic. Let's do it again!
John, that cat is gorgeous. It takes well every camera-lens combination. What a model :)
Erik, beautiful stupa. I remember when you first posted images of it once it was finished. That lighting and your concept to create it are inspiring. The results ethereal and spiritual. Love it!

Those wasps have a fantastic [accidental]design sense. If the patterns had been created by a human, we'd call them psychedelic!

Thank you Erik. ;)
I tried the auto AF fine tune with the D5. Have never done it before with any camera. It can be quite erratic in values from one try to the next. I´m confident at the end with the values except for the 58mm 1.4G. It still works better and more consistent in the Z6 body. Anyway, here a picture with the last lights from the very same point I chose for the tests.

It's dreary, wet, inclement November weather prevailing at the moment. Very warm for the season, so no snow in sight. I did change to winter tyres just in case the weather gods had an upcoming surprise for me :( now the tables at my favourite coffee bar are equally wet and dreary too. Oh well. I did shot a test capture with the venerable IR favourite Nikkor 28 mm f/3.5 AI, which apparently does a very credible job on the PrimaLuce Z5. No hot spot in IR and no vignetting either. The far-field bokeh might not be as soft as with modern lenses, but one cannot have it all rolled into a single lens I guess.
By the way, the IR snapshot revealed a later paint job on my little Peugeot (which sits in the background and the front door panel obviously is repainted) I had all forgotten about.

Just after I had swapped to winter tyres on my small red Peugeot, we had another snowfall. Still not cold enough to allow the snow to persist on ground, but many plants with green foliage will not be that resistant and therefore wilt. Not so with the tenacious dandelions, of course. They are truly dandelions for ever. My darlings.

The light dusting of snow yesterday stayed over night, as ambient temperatures dropped below the freezing point. Nice test scenery for the Tilt-shift Nikkor 19mm f/4 ED on the PrimaLuce Z5. I used a makeshift O56 filter to make the capture false-colour IR emulation ('EIR').

A tiny fraction of the former narrow-gauge railway "Tertitten" is kept as a museum heritage and run by local enthusiasts here in my neighbourhood. They have several locomotives 100+ years old, most of which are endearing small stream locos (and an equally endearing, even smaller, diesel loco), a number of carriages, and three stations with well-kept buildings.
Here is the steam loco "Prydz" advancing towards me, seen through the wide view of the 19mm f/4E Nikkor on the PrimaLuce Z5.

This is a 100% crop of the frame. 13 captures stacked in Zerene Stacker -- these flowers are highly phototropic thus move too much around to allow deeper stacks. Thus I needed to stop the lens down to f/16, which is far more than I usual prefer, f/5.6-f/8 being the normal options. The powerful studio flashes (1600 Ws) have no problem throwing sufficient UV light onto the subject, though, even at a distance of 1m used here.
