Thanks for the write up, Rick It's indeed a remarkable lens, I have the last version K.  Ai'd.

Perhaps good to mention that Pre-Ai lenses can be perfectly used on the Z6/7 with the FTZ-adapter?

that's mostly the case unfortunately tick-mark and earlier lenses is a problem :o :o :o

i am still looking for an adapter that will allow me to mount tick-mark lenses ::)

if i couldnt i will have to make one myself ::)

I have an early model with the factory Ai upgrade ring. The knurl on the lens is worn smooth and the
lens mount is so brassed and worn, the lens jumps/shifts when an exposure is made. Looking at this beat to crap, worn lens, it' a wonder that the glass is near perfect.


Unable to find another mount, I used a very sharp and hardened mini wire cutter. I placed two horizontal "chomps" on each of the 3 lens flanges, to allow a tighter grip.


The lens now stays tight and takes extremely good shots.

Thanks for sharing the article and sorry to hear about your job, Rick. Most of us spend more than half of our time at work. The jobs need to bring us not only bread but also satisfaction. Hope you'll find a better one soon.

I am going to start working for another studio on the 15th next month.

i was so stressed i didnt repair anything for almost a year. all the betrayals, politics and toxicity at work was too much :o :o :o
i am a working professional, back in the day problems would be solved by a pipe to the face ::) thank goodness i straightened up at reservist training.

the blog is my only way to remain sane. ::)
