Title: Low angle common loon foot waggle
Post by: Randy Stout on August 14, 2020, 18:33:45
This common loon was imaged in Northern Michigan about two weeks ago.  No one knows exactly why they wave their feet around like this, but it makes for some funny images.  I have been working on getting lower shooting angles recently.  My latest permutation involves leaning over the side of my loon boat and resting my camera on a platform I added that sits about 1" above the water level.  It works best with the Z6 because of the good function off the rear screen, but I have gotten some good shots with the D500, but the Live View is painfully slow.  So far I have only gotten the camera a little bit wet!

Z6, 500 PF

Essentially full frame.

Advice and comments appreciated.

Cool shot, great angle. The sharply defined features of the bird contrast well against the liquid soft surrounding environment.
