Actually, from a vantage point we can observe the Swedish border. However, due to the difference in handling C-19 pandemic, we cannot travel to Sweden now without having to be quarantined 14 days afterwards. So not that tempting :(

John very real portrait
You can see through the eyes
Bruno it’s look like night dancers, excellent contrast
Paco I like this composition very much, personally I would prefer the same a bit earlier to have more open purple
Thank you Nasos. I completely agree. The file has been massaged towards that end. On the premises, sunset is very fast now in Spain.

A Dogwood on the corner of my house has one branch left filled with blossoms, not so a week ago when the tree had more than I cared to count. Why it works that way is something I don't understand. My Crab Apple had one blossom bloom when all the others had fallen away well over a week before. Same phenomenon in a way, only a different tree.

Since the lockdown is officially over we have many young birds in the garden feeding.
The first nesting must have been unsuccesful, which came early and we had a severe dry spell and many predating magpies aggressively hunting the nests. So the second nests are plenty and the weather has changed back to more normal weather...

Nice picture ! There is still something which doesn't fly with the clouds. You should have posted your Lr processing, so we can compare.

Thank you. Since we are now past midnight here, this is the Lr version. I agree about the clouds but I suspect that I overexposed them.

Here is another go with Photo Ninja with an attempt to improve the clouds.

Ian, is the yellow hue on the clouds coincide the way you actually saw in the field? If not, the blue channel might have lost the info. I find the highlight recovery of Adobe apps is amazing. CNX-D is excellent as well in this regard.
-
Hi Ian, I find the Lr processed one, the most balanced. But, as a Adobe fan, this might suffer from some lack of objectivity ... ::)

This was the result of a last-minute thought to try different profiles in Lr. It is not something that I normally do. My previous efforts were not as pleasant.
I have been using Lr since I switched to digital in 2013. Consider me a fan too! I'm happy to have discovered the value of profiles ::)

It is higher in the sky than I thought. I could not find it at first. I needed a smartphone app to get the azimuth and binoculars to find it. Having read everywhere that it is very low, close to the horizon, I was not looking high enough.

Yes, it is really nice. When I translated the interview to Tony Bennett at a hotel in Tokyo, there was a large glass with the sunflowers just like your image. When I said that reminded me of Vincent, he said that he was just reading the correspondences between Vincent and Theo, and told me that he was impressed by Theo's letters. Tony Bennett studied paintings and and music at the art school.

can anyone tell me why this Brownie was "made in France"?
-
Not specific to the Brownie, but Kodak had major manufacturing in France and the U.K. The last few years of Super-8 movie film (that I saw here in USA) was produced in France by Kodak-Pathé. Every once in a while, during the 60's/70's there was British-made Kodachrome stills film for sale in the U.S.

Impressive DOF, have you used a tripod, or is the cicada that big ::)
I used a color profile in LR (iPad) thats made this structure more visible, its usually grey to the human eye
No time to set up a tripod so it’s hand held
In the absence of VR I used iso 800, f4, 1/250sec
The cicada was 5cm in length
I took several photos and try to have the eye in focus, I used flash with better overall lighting just once before cicadas fly away but no lack in eye focus ;)
Thank you

Welcome to the Laowa 24mm f/14 "Duckweed Edition" lens .... adding a CPU to it was a breeze too. The Powerbank powers the (dimmable) LED lights in the front of the probe. The narrow front section of the lens is water-tight which for me was amajor inducement to getting this specialist item. Can do for sundry other subjects such as ants etc. if duckweeds don't take your fancy :). Focus is infinity to 2X life-size and apertures range from f/14 to f/40, meaning the built-in ring light is quite handy.
