I have an old scanner tiny lens that I finally got to fit in a lens plate for the Novoflex BALPRO. So I have the Nikon D850 on the BALPRO (with bellows) with the lens plate on the front. The lens works, but I can't figure out how to make the D850 make the image lighter or darker.
I am sure there is something I am forgetting, but any ideas would help. This little lens is a fixed aperture, so light would have to vary from the camera.
Thanks for info.

I am sure I must be missing the question, but if I am not:
If you are shooting manual mode, reduce shutter speed or increase ISO. If you are shooting in some other mode, use exposure compensation?

I try to reduce shutter speed, but there is no reduction appearing on Live View.

Ensure the camera is set to M mode. Also, check that Auto ISO is OFF and that no corrections are added to LiveView.
If you snap a few pictures with different time settings, do they all come out similar in terms of exposure? If that be the case, my prime candidate would be Auto ISO.

I the live view set up to show how the result wil be, if not the image will stay the regardless of the shutter speed or ISO setting.
That is what happens with the Z series, but I don’t know if the D850 have the same setup.

I have no problems fully manual with the D850. M-mode, fixed ISO etc.. Is the subject illuminated properly?... is there some blockage that is lens related?.. iris etc.. is the lens wide open?

The lens has a fixed aperture. It came out of a scanner. It's at the end of a bellows, so I can't imagine how it could be different from many LF lenses I sue. I always try to shoot ISO 64, fixed, and always manual. Plenty of light. I will check it all out again.

I really don't know without seeing it.

Maybe try bracketing. D850 can do a series of up to 9 photos.
If you use a step value of 2/3EV and 9 photos, the D850 will give you a sequence of photos from -2.7EV to +2.7EV of what it thinks it's right.
If they come out all the same, then there's a problem.
What did you put in the Lens without CPU field? I assume the bellows is unchipped.
Ciao from Massimo

Press the ok button, iso 100, manual, and change the shutter speed, you can switch between constant and variable brightness.
