The dreaded GAS grabbed me by the throat and forced me into buying the Peak Design Travel Tripod, it was either that or fritter the money away on wine, women and song!
So far initial impressions are very good, it comes with everything one might need to operate or maintain the tripod.
The ball head included is very easy to use and a gizmo is available to allow one to use any head your hearts desire. another bonus is that replacement of all parts is very doable by the owner!
Seems to be very stable and even comes with a mobile phone holder which fits inside the centre column.

The problem is Thomas, that although the tripod is super stylish, I am the antithesis of stylish!
Bent it is Arca Swiss compatible, and comes with one AS plate. And any AS plate will be useable!

I would lower the mid column, or remove it. They tend to make the camera platform more wobbly.
Next time GAS strikes, at least consider the alternatives of wine, song etc. A different sort of fun.

The centre column is removable, leaving a stub of a column and the ball head is capable of being replaced by a plate and stub column allowing fitting of any head you might want! When with the extended Centre column stability is quite good also there is a hook to hang extra weights from!
By the way I’m not a drinker and my singing voice is enough to make dogs howl! Sadly women have been running To the hills for years now!

It really is quite stable, the leg angle is readily adjustable to nearly horizontally called the low mode!
My Manfrotto tripod is not as stable as the PDTT!

I see the tripod comes with a remote ;)

Tried the PDTT out at full height today albeit indoors. It felt really stable with a Z6 + Z35mm mounted!
It was very nearly too tall for me. The Arca-Swiss plate is as you know is really quick to clip in and out it also locks securely in place on this t-pod.
It looks quite spindly when deployed but doesn’t feel wobbly at all. It is also very easy to stretch the leg to the required length!
The supplied case is a snug fit, but well made. Also supplied is a plastic box to put everything in which again is a snug fit, which at least it stops the tripod rattling around!
I continue to be impressed by the PDTT.

That’s what Riviera Travel is telling me and they have amended my booking! But yep fingers crossed!

Before you go, you might want to take it outdoors, in a good wind, to see how it does. Center columns are notorious in such conditions, and can deliver quite disappointing results.
