I really fail to see how the images shown are a scientific justification for the title of the post.
While they are slightly "exotic", very similar situations can be found in countries around the world.

This pandemic has brought out many cases similar to this where someone skilled in one domain makes pronouncements in domains which they they may be ill-qualified and perhaps dangerously wrong.

Yes...recently, I've seen well-known photo website authors recommending untried drug combinations, crackpot economic theories, and the drinking of vinegar to lose weight!
