Title: NIKON NOCT95: Should I keep the NOCT f1.2?
Post by: Michael Erlewine on December 07, 2019, 17:42:26
Since I have the new Nikon NOCT 95, I question why I need the excellent copy of the older Nikon 58mm f/1.2 NOCT-Nikkor I have had for years.

It is smaller and lighter and does keep my foot in the door for the Nikon DSLRs, like the D850, etc. Other than that, I see no time I would chose the f/1.2 version over the new NOCT .95?

What are your thoughts? I believe I am converted to mirrorless at this point, although I still have (and use) the D850, D810, and so on. Any thoughts welcome?

I think the old Noct 1.2 is a very good lens on the Z6/Z7 with FTZ adapter. I do not think you will take the 0.95 outdoors, will you?

Sure, I will take it out and already have a high-quality clear filter. However, I won't take it far. As for the old NOCT f/1.2, it has too much CA for me to use it often.

In that case I feel you already made your decision
