Sunset in The Hague.
-
We are in the land of the Dutch and their national colour red, blue, and white fly everywhere.
-
Bicycles prevail everywhere as well. For the uninitiated being run over by a cyclist is an existential and real danger. Or one can enjoy all the signs of the bicycle dominance.
-
Erik needs morning coffee to start the engine. We have a favourite hang-out aptly called Crunch which precisely describes our morning sentiments.
-
The cultural tensions in Delft can be manifested in various and mysterious ways.
-
Erik now being well fed is ready to commence shooting in the streets on Den Haag.
-
Birna narrowly escaped being pulled in for jaywalking.
-
Nice start to the NG Meeting 8) Delft :o
-
And it's been 10 years,,, Time flies ;D
-
Impressive artistic interpretations!
-
The first NG storm-troopers have arrived and of course, need to be treated in proper Nikongear style.
Taken with my new Panagor 21mm f/4 at 0.8" hand-held on the Z6.

See you tomorrow
You can get around the problem with a USB3 cable and Nikon Transfer 2. A USB3 cable will cost a fraction on an XQD reader, it can be bought almost anywhere, you can download ViewNX-I from the Nikon Download center
You will need an A or C-type connector on computer side, and a micro-USB type B on the camera side. In the included photo, the usual A to μ-USB type B that's included with cameras

No visit to Den Haag without going to a canal to enjoy some nice duckweeds. Here is a luxuriant community of Wolfia arrhiza and Lemna minuta, two of the world's smallest flowering plants. They really made my day :)

an impression from the Scheveningen beach. The vintage Panagor 21mm f/4 on my Z6. Stopped down all the way one gets lots of depth of field and a significant loss of sharpness. All as expected, but delivered with a gentle and well-rounded flair.

The staircase at Jakov's place. What a great friend and host to have :) I'm feeling lucky.
Again, the Panagor on the Z6.

,,, We got the APO Lanthar 125 back into infinity ;) It works, but focus is a bit on the heavy side, ok for a macro lens.
A wake up call to treat these Lanthars for what they are; A fragile extinct species :o
The two guides #60 was bend severely but got the back into original shape, guide bushings checked and threads massaged into shape again, the aluminum tubes used for this lens are so thin it's a wonder it works at all,,,
-
Ouch ... good to have you able to fix it.
-
Bruno, Dr Lens Clique fixes everything. You break - he make!
The visibility on the beach today was rather extended.
-
Mobile phones are just fine, however, there is a long way to go reach a D750 + lens + post processing...
-
Nice shots of the buildings around the station Erik, what a coincedence, like being there with you :D :D :D

Did Francis arrive at Eindhoven for his flight in time?
Yes, Frank ! Safely arrived about 7:30pm at Petersfield train station.
A big thanks to Thomas for this nice trip at the foot of Eindhoven terminal !
Beautiful weather and no lorries on the motorway.
Very happy about this (too) short get-together, with the joy to see at the very end of the stay at Jakov's , our Dr Lens, aka Erik, fixing my legendary CV 125mm apo-lanthar coming back to life...and infinity.
Calm, precision of gestures, expertise, all ingredients to complete this session of lens surgery, and some suspense :o, few minutes before the time limit to leave toward Eindhoven airport...The audience (Thomas, Birna, jakov, and myself) was very quiet.
So I would rate Erik as a ''LENS WIZARD'' ! :) Thanks a lot, Erik ! ;).

Some images I want to share too :)
It all started for me Friday evening with an excellent dinner with Thomas and Frank followed by a get together with NG Core at Jakov´s place. He is a most generous and attentive host. Thanks again for everything Jakov, Jakov, Jakov, and for all the new and very good music ( even if most at 4/4 ;D)
We even get to hear about the beginnigs of this place
-
Lenses were changing hands and tried for the first time too :)
-
Next day at breakfast, the topics were decided by chance and an innocent hand. 3 and 9 were selected. Birna tried for a second time. 3 and 9 again, it was fate ;D
Erik found that Maritne´s very little camera had lenses smaller than his thumb
-
We did get a picture of the salt going down (don´t remember why). It turned out that does not improve a capuccino
A photographer taking a photo of a photographer taking a photo of photographers. Full circle ;D
-
I was seating next to Frank while taking the portraits. I was using the Z6 and 105mm 1.4 at f2.8
-
Erik, the man of a thousand states :)
-
Then we took off and I found out, again, I´m an easy-get-lost ::) and not very good at working with a theme it seams ;D
Fist part of the day with the Z6 and 28mm 1.4 e...and a dark 13
-
keep on going. New city, new views and an inspiring company.
The statue at f1.4

-
Where is Angélique ?
Not in this picture and I am not happy with the other...
-
Wonderful series, paco!
-
Great shots, Paco!
-
Erik and I went further inland to the small city of Amersfoort today. Inclement weather, but nice surroundings however.
On a city canal we found the famous "Black Pearl" ... of more interest for me was the greenery in the river, which turned out to be the Blunt-fruited Water Star-wort Callitriche obtusangula. I was happy despite the weather. (for a while).

It is a joy to look at all the pictures from the NG community in Den Haag, all the threads are very inspiring, thanks for sharing.

Paco, Paco a, Paco b, I am really impressed by the images that you have displayed. To paraphrase Birna, not only are they technically great, they are different to each other and pleasant to the eye. Great vision and execution!

Of course, technical "progress" at Schipol really means something will go wrong. My standard airline (no names mentioned, none forgotten) had set up a nice robotic baggage checking line, which died all of a sudden and created much chaos in the checking-in queues.
The repair tech manhandled the robotic units in a determined manner. After a [substantial] while order was restored. For now. Thus, what will happen when automation is brought to its next level, and even fewer human resources are available?

Seeing your art I often ask myself: Where does she extract these from????
Waow,why ?
You never really see what I'm doing.
Those pictures are the result of a pleasant, but to short moment, and to much distractions to let me time to be enough concentrated on a subject, with a lot of extraordinary photographers with lots of knowings about photography. I spend a real good time with all of you, thanks.

Or come over in a weekend! The Louwman car museum is definitely worth a visit (and a photographic opportunity) as well!

Sunday, as already stated, we went to Vivek´s house. There is no more gracious and generous host.
In the way there Frank and I met Peter and he let me try the Milvus 135 f2 :o on the Z6. Impressive. Here two portraits at f4 and f2 respectively:
Guess how took the 3rd image with my camera (hint, no lens)
Guess who took 4rd (hint, a bit blurry ;D )
And an induced uv? to wrap it up
P.E.: I got a 35mm 2.8 AI from Peter but first test will be shown in another thread

I take responsibility for snapping a picture without a lens :)
Vivek Iyer did shoot me and Frank (in UV),

I did the photowalk with the samyang 14mm t3.1 but i returned it today didnt meet my critiria it was either sharp the first 2 meters or near infinity, couldnt get the depth of field i wanted.
Where distortion was huge correcting was no option for losing edge definition. Also quite susceptible to backlight.

Wow, so many great photos in this thread, i'm jealous.
Caught a reflection in one of the streets around the station.

I really like the portrait of Frank which brings out a certain fragility quite touching !

I think this is the unsorted thread?
As I was handicaped by some Whiskey from my friends in the night before, I afterwards realized thanks to VR where we have been

Been delayed with processing due to a troublesome pneumonia, but anyway observed this strange behaviour when downloading files today. Must be something in the air?

Nice thread. It's fun to put faces to some more of of the NG names - it would have been nice to join the gathering. Also, before it disappears up the page and gets lost in the the thread I want to compliment John Geerts' photo: 2019-11-09-winkelstraat-Den-Haag.jpg, with the dark edges and the city dissolving behind the pedestrians. I find it very striking. For reasons I'm not sure I can pinpoint - perhaps the strength of the separation between the subjects and everything else in the photo - it immediately caught my attention. Cheers, John

It looks like a kind of feverish madness is in the air? Birna, best wishes for a speedy recovery!
-
Thanks, Keith. Some rest and a healthy dose of antibiotics should help.
NG Photorace or any other NG event for that matter, really impacts our members. For the better, I'd say.

Thank you all so much for sharing, I think you all made some great photos and there is a welcoming warmth in the photos of you together. I must admit, the thought of joining is extremely tempting!

It's time for a reunion. ;)

Shall we reunite in September?

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Everything should be back to 'normal' by then ;)
