I used to be davepaterson, now I've become dgp2015 which is quicker to type.
I'm a retired commercial and editorial photographer and have been a photographer of one kind or another since 1965, so I'm not exactly a teenager. Since retiring to live back in Scotland I have actually been more active - photographically - than ever before; I have the time and (just about enough) energy to be out most days indulging my passion for nature and landscape.
I've published a lot of books and have held a lot of exhibitions - currently (June 2015), I have an exhibition going around several galleries - images of the most important neolithic monuments in Scotland.
Oh and - time to open this can of worms, I think - I have Parkinson's Disease.

Hello Dave, great to see you here!
I look forward to see more of your wonderful Scottish landscapes.

I am thrilled that you took to our new revived NG, Dave !! Been some time since the Lofoten raid under old NG auspices, but never say never.
Sorry about your illness, there is little or no fairness in the manner Nature distributes its less attractive annoyances. However, your photography bears testimony to your being able to cope with the situation. Good on you, good for us all.
-
Thanks, Bjørn and Bjørn; it's good to be among friends.
I don't really know why, but I seem to enjoy more affinity with my Norwegian photographic friends and acquaintances than with their Scottish equivalents. Maybe it's because my name is - of course - a Viking one. Paterson = Petersson. ;D ;D ;D
-
Paterson could also be the Norwegian Pettersen, a very common family name in Norway. Petersson is Swedish. It means "son of Peter". You could well have Viking blood in your veins :)
-
First and foremost, you came across as a very pleasant and nice friend. You even managed to keep your patience when used as a bait for hungry seagulls :D
-
Hi Dave. I'm glad that you have found this forum too, and I look forward to enjoying more of your highland landscapes (and maybe some Japan ones as well). Hope you remain active for many more years.
Mike.

Hello number 45 in the family reuniuon. Looking forward to NG-meetups in Europe and elsewhere.

Hello David,
As much as i think about it, there is no way to make Paterson sound French.
But in any case it is nice to have news of cousins from far away...

Hi, Dave, great to have you here!

Hi Dave,
I have just subscribed and this is the first post I read - it was top of the pile in the Introductions section.
I am the same known with the same username in Fotozones, that is Simone Tomasi.
It is nice to know a few of the people here, including you, from meeting them in person.
That trip to Lofoten has been excellent and I think about it often.
Sorry to hear about your disease, now some of the comments that you wrote on several occasions in the past make sense.
-
Thank you all for the warm welcome - I feel very much at home in the revived NG.
Simone (and both Bjørns) - I also often think fondly about that week in Lofoten and wish it could be repeated (not necessarily in Lofoten). It was so good to be with a group of people, all of whom just understood - no explanation necessary - what it is to be a photographer. Non-photographers do not understand, and sometimes that can become tedious.

That would be great, maybe in Scotland...
With a young family I cannot leave for long, but I could maybe drive up for a long weekend and I have wished already for some time to photograph the West Highlands.

NG Coming Together events are important to build the collective spirit. I'll shortly add a new board (under travelogues) where such ideas can be suggested and brain-stormed.

Excellent!

Hi David-san,
Looked everywhere for your email address to send the an invite but to no avail, luckily you found NikonGear :D
Sorry to hear about PD sticking up its ugly head, hope it doesn't impact photography and life in general too much.
Please tell the misses I said hi :)
Cheers,
Jan Anne

Hi, Dave,
I'm very sorry that I didn't read your original post thoroughly and missed the last and the most important sentence.
I strongly hope you will be affected by the dicease as little as possible, and hope to see you again.
-
Just happened to find this shot capturing the shot above ;)

Dave is so patient ... but who did borrow my camera and rain hat?

Looks like my jacket, my hands holding my own D3s and 16/3.5 fish, also used black on yellow labels back then :)
Can't remember wearing the yellow hat btw but I do remember you had one with you.
-
I can't remember collecting my
guinea-pig modelling fees from you guys. An invoice will follow shortly. ;)
-
Sorry I missed this post!
well at least I caught up now
I think we all know that NG is a little family - where we will - like siblings - fight and quibble and have our own inflated egos - but at the heart of it all we are will protect one another and care about one another. Sharing is important - everyone grows older (except me - I am 29)
Welcome home Dave
-
Time for Jan Anne to admit to wearing the yellow hat.
-
Certainly love your photography Dave. Very glad you are here.
I have a fondness for mountains and you have seen (and photographed) some of the finest.
Best wishes, James

Looking the part, as usual 8)
Thanks for bringing back those fine memories Anthony :)

Thanks to Elsa, James, Akira and all who have wished me well; thanks also to the Lofoten sea-gulls which did not peck me in spite of severe provocations by Bjørn R, Bjørn J, Jan Anne, Erik . . . to name only a few . . .
