Title: New bayer
Post by: golunvolo on March 26, 2019, 15:06:01
I have been looking at the presentation for the new Huawei mobile phone. The camera has taken a lot of importance -again- collaboration with Leica with...many things. The one that called my attention is the new bayer array: ryyb instead of rggb. They claim it takes up to 40% more light because of this. Any ideas of information? It can make an impact in sensor technology if true

I read the news on dpreview.com.  I wonder if it is actually an myyc (magenta, yellow, cyan) sensor.  The complementary color filters were used in the old days of CCD to let more light go through them onto the photosites than through the prime color (rggb) filters.

actually it is yellow to record more luminance information by sacrificing some green detail.
