Title: Going Nowhere Mighty Fast
Post by: Nikkor Shooter on December 29, 2018, 20:30:21

I heard some noise at a distance…

Mallards taking off without any apparent reasons,
going once around the marsh and all landing at
the same point they took off. Really?

Nice catch of a tidy group!

Thanks Keith but two ducks and fractions of others
had to be removed to get that result! :P

Nice image.

My father had several "squadrons" of mallards on his property and this behaviour of all taking off together and then landing after a very short flight was not uncommon.  FWIW I surmise that if the lead male bird gets spooked the rest will follow and then settle back once he/they decide there is no danger present - just my observation of them.
