This is from my recent trip to India. I spent the weekend in Bangalore and Mysore, between customer meetings.
No need to elaborate about the contrasts found in India, between amazing modernity and blasts from the past. And there is no message here, I just like the atmosphere and the people in markets. I already did when living in France!
-
forgot to mention: all done with my X-T1 and the 18-55mm kit zoom. if only it could focus faster! I probably need to learn how use autofocus propperly, as I usually shoot with MF lenses.
-
You sensually show the richness of the harvest these people yield putting their land to use.
-
Very much how i remember India from 45 years ago now, merci Olivier.
-
Frank, Fons, thank you.
And merry Christmas everyone in advance. I am flying back to France today, from Singapore for the holidays. Winter, finally!
-
Very enjoyable series, thanks for sharing it
-
Wonderful pictorial series, Olivier! A lot of interesting things are going on even in one image. Thank you for sharing!
-
Beautiful rich colours, market scenes well captured.
-
Thank you very much!

Back to Singapore now. Happy new year to everyone!
I have gone through my files from India and there are a few more that I like.
-
Excellent street photography.
Curiously, I prefer the second set to the first, as it's photos seems to be grittier.
Very well done.

I love your work. Very subtle and with great artisian skill
-
You've done a great job protecting the whites at SR but not
a good one at retrieving the blacks in PP in most cases.
My pick would be #4 of the first set and #7 of the second. :P
-
Very impressive work, especially the second series, great portraits and you can smell the market (Chickens)
-
Wonderful captures of the daily life in India. You stuffed intriguing details into the frames successfully. Love the musical instrument shop!
-
Portrait of life. Human and wonderful. Thank you Oliver and happy new year too!
-
Thanks a lot for the nice words, I am flattered.
Nikkor Shooter: thank you for the critique. I tried to play with the blacks indeed and must say I did not like so much some of the pictures when more detail was apparent in the dark zones. The light was quite contrasted in some areas of the markets, and I liked that, although it is a challenge to photograph. Of course, I am sure I could do better with these files!

Came back to your thread after my trip to Bangalore, are any of this images from Mysore ? I was expecting views from the palace
-
excellent street photography
I rarely found images like these going so near to life without make up - f.e. the chicken slaugters
my fav is the electrical shop
-
Thanks Thomas!
Armando, in both series, the first 4 are from Bangalore and the others from Mysore. I took the express train (only two hours) and spent most of a week-end in Mysore. I did visit the palace and while I enjoyed it very much, I found it quite hard to photograph. A bit like Versailles. Getting the whole palace is uninteresting and actually requires to step back so much that it creates too much empty space. And then I did not have enough time to think more about that... I really wanted to spend more time in the markets! Let me check what I have and I will post a couple of pictures.

As said, nothing really exciting. But it was great to visit!

Beautiful building, thanks for sharing
