Mayumi and I spent a few sunny/stormy days in a region called Rothiemurchus, which also gets called the Eastern Highlands. It's a very different part of Scotland - rolling hills and farmland and dense forests. In the autumn colours it all looked very fine.
The first and last were shot en route; all the others were in the Rothiemurchus heartlands, east of the Spey Valley.

You have a very fine and keen eye for landscapes I must say. Now also including my favourite subject, the power lines :D

more than I can bare.
the "Der Blaue Reiter" was a group
but we can outperform them
David. You make me beg I was your friend.

PS to David: You outperform yourself even
-
David, your photos always put a smile on my face.
Thank you!

To me, #1, #4 and #5 suggest that you entered into a new creative territory. The almost featureless mountains and woods work marvelously as abstracting elements. Very inspiring!

+1, I must say that even the power lines are well captured, nice graphically.
Makes me want to visit Scotland :)

Birna - I value your judgements very highly- thank you
Frank - thank you also. I think we will always be friends; maybe we will make a Scottish safari some time?
Jakov - I know I have done my job when you comment so positively - thank you
Akira - Our safaris perhaps will always be in Tokyo - that's another "different view" that I love - thank you for your comment - thoughtful as always.

Thanks, Bent - with a little luck you will be here before too long.

A few more from Rothiemurchus

Needless to say, #3 is a nice continuation of what I like about this series. :)

All of them are nice, but i find #3 of the second series a smash hit !
-
Akira and Hans - thank you, and good choice, that is probably my own favourite.
-
you are blessed to live in such a light and landscape. Wonderful pictures. All the best. Frank

You are right - all the requirements for good landscape work are plentiful here in Scotland - the landscape itself and very often, good light. I know how lucky I am. Thanks, Frank.
A last set of images -

Tree plantations are no guarantee for dull landscape impressions, apparently. The Larix in the Abies grove really stands out.
-
#2 and #5 from the last set are my favorites!
-
the reparian zone is wonderfully planted in #1 and I like the hillscene with the landscape killer animals in #4
-
Needless to say, #3 is a nice continuation of what I like about this series. :)
Yes ! Beautiful.

A beautiful series, David. The light in Scotland can be truly stunning.
I particularly like the two images where the farm animals are more than incidental to the image, namely DSC1622 and DSC1639. They catch the setting sun beautifully in the latter.
-
Thank you all - Mike, John, Frank, Akira and Birna - for your very kind comments.
-
in this set of perfect pictures, I adore these grey tone ones
-
Thank you, Thomas.

Mongo was going to comment on the various images commencing with #3 but it became obvious that it is easier to summarise the images as varying levels of fabulous for different reasons. Mongo did not think you could exceed your already posted work but you thoroughly surprised and delighted with your latest quality of images. Looking forward to the next lot

What can I say - thank you for such a glowing report - I'm pleased that you're pleased - and that goes for everyone who has commented.
I always find new scenes, new landscapes, very stimulating, and here was a large and beautiful area of Scotland which I hardly knew at all. The light was also beautiful throughout our short trip, so my job - to come home with some decent images - was made very easy.
