This is an exciting series! The second one from the first group looks awesome!
-
Great work here Anthony - thank you for sharing. What lenses and cameras did you use?
-
Anthony, thanks for sharing the outstanding series
All the images are great , my personal favorites are the fist few with the city in the background.
Care to tell us what equipment did you use ?
-
Great work, Anthony!
-
Excellent ! With a preference for the #2287

Anthony:
Your incredible photographs sent me scurrying to discover a bit about the history and development of the sport of "Parkour" which I had never even heard of before you posted these photographs.
I particularly enjoyed the ones where the city itself is part of the picture (as in the first one and in the swing past the cherry trees) in particular: the scale of a recognizable context seems to emphasize the skill and the high leaps of these athletes.
The only time which I have ever come close to witnessing physical skill of this kind was when I happened to be at the Shaolin Temple near Luoyang in Henan Province on an afternoon when the graduating class were putting on a display of KungFu for their parents.

Great set of images Anthony, superb ......well done!
Cheers

Thank you, all, for your kind remarks. It was a very enjoyable day.
The camera was the D3s. All but two of the shots were with the Nikon 24-70. The upside down photo in the tunnel and the flag pose against the blossom were with the 70-200 VRII.
As the event was organised by Nikon, I felt it would have been impolite to have used Fuji equipment.

They are beautiful exposures. Are they HDRs?
-
Oh wow...
Excellent.
How did you get in position? Was there enough time to see and adjust?
cheers

Absolutely remarkable action series, I am very impressed!
As already mentioned, the very first two stand out because of the background providing context and, in the case of the first one, a funny sense of proportion (the giant leaping over the city!). The second is ever so slightly tilted and could do with minimal straightening.
Other stand-outs for me are the last of the second series, for its dynamicism and the intensity of the look, and the one with the cherry blossom - one has to be monstrously ripped to be able to pull that stunt!
-
Arthur, Afx, Simone, thank you for your comments.
Arthur, no HDR was involved, just some tonal adjustments mainly in Capture One.
Afx, the action was set up in advance, so it was a matter of trying to anticipate where the best angles and backgrounds would be presented.
Simone, thanks for spotting the slight tilt, which I will correct on my master version.

most impressive, congrats!... also impressive is that your D3s has made the grade this long!

Bob, sending shivers down the spine of D3s owners...... ;D

Thanks, Bob, the D3s has provided wonderful service for many years. I do not use it so much these days, as the weight and size cannot really be justified for me in most circumstances.

Well that vintage setup still delivers, ... and skilfully done.
-
when timing and skill really count. Fabulous series of images. Also an extra tick for #2287 out of an incredibly great bunch

Fons, Mongo, thank you for your comments.

Fantastic!
I especially love the image with the spray of sand.
