Unexpected choice.
In 'Upper Class', the coaches had no air conditioning but did have those ceiling fans.
Unfortunately half of the fans functioned imperfectly, their breeze directed at floor or into the corner.
The other half rotated so one had the blessed breeze for a few seconds than the humid heat for the remainder of the cycle.
(Looking at these pictures has been a bitter sweet task.
My friend, who made this train journey with me, died unexpectedly last Friday 4 weeks subsequent to a shoulder surgery.
It was obviously a shock as I had seem him just a few days before and he was wearing a brace but seemingly fine and recovering well.)
