I'm looking for a simple program for getting my files (NEF's in my case) from card(reader) to my iMac/MBP.
In the past I used LR for that, but I'm leaving this path.
What I want is to rename the files to YYYY-MM-DD-HHMMSS (shooting date/time) and if possible some keywording.
I use FastRawViewer for culling and initial rating and DxO Photolabs for developing.
Both programs don't have import functions.
The stupid thing is I could use Nikon Transfer 2, but it doesn't work with card readers under High Sierra.

Not exactly simple, but the ingest function of Photo Mechanic (www.camerabits.com) can be configured to do exactly what you are asking for. It works very well.

Thanks. I did a quick test and it seemed to do what I'm looking for.
I just remember I have somewhere a licence of "A Better Finder Rename" that should do the same trick. :)

I don't know your reasons to leave Lr. But Lr is perfect for the problem you have (renaming).

I can use LR import until Nikon repair its transfer app.

IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/) has a pretty good renaming engine, one I'd consider.
Get's even better if you are not shy of conversion strings. Look at [batch rename] - [options] - [help].
It's not even limited to image files.

I use IrfanView frequently and I use the batch rename no and then. I find it very useful but one needs to test strings. I have four saved. I don't know if there is an option to save them or if it's automaticly saved like a recent files list.

I've been using FastRawViewer and it works great. Here's a good article: https://photographylife.com/reviews/fastrawviewer
I select files to import directly from the SD-Card, and copy them to a folder on my Mac. From there I process using DxO Photo Lab.
FastRawViewer was a huge upgrade from using Apple's Image Capture. Other programs like Photo Mechanic are way over the top for me.

You mentioned not being able to use Transfer2 with High Sierra. Which version of ViewNx-i / Transfer2 do you have installed? According to Nikon the conflict has been resolved with the ViewNX-i 1.2.11 update this February:

I started this thread in December, in the meantime Nikon updated their software and now it works. :)

Thanks, Chris. I asked because I've been unable :( to update my iMac27 to High Sierra and couldn't say for sure if the updates worked.
