Frank, I like this mysterious image.  Hal 2017?!

Walking in the city with only the D850 and the 300PF I saw the colorful reflections in the window pane. Indeed the HAL9000 association came to my mind. the combination could only be seen with the long lens from that perspective.  Moving only millimeters I could reposition the reflections at will. This version seems quite satisfactory.

The water in my son's ashtray on my office balcony is frozen, but the food stuffs on the kitchen balcony were not frozen. I brought them in anyway. Winter sun creates pale shadows on the wall (other street side). The beech tree still glowing orange last week is now devoid of leafs. We are all set to sorvive another winter.

As Fons says, excellent choice for the weather. Although i think that in decent light it is quite a decent performer above water, it does great under water IMHO.

Cardinal finch, Bill?
Lovely.

Thank you Fons!  It is a "Northern Cardinal" common to our area.  Normally we see them in the branches of trees or among the shrubs and not out on an open perch.

Here is a link http://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/northern-cardinal (http://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/northern-cardinal) for the Audubon.Org article on the species.  There are recordings of its songs and calls at the bottom right of the page, hearing their mating songs outside is a special treat.

D800, 35-105 AF-D, SB-910 Flash (front curtain slow sync)
ISO 200, 1/4 sec, f/8, handheld (due to sheer laziness)

Merry Christmas! I had to try this a fair number of times to get it sort of how I wanted it. Apparently the lights pulse at 60 Hz...

CORRECTION: the EXIF data said 65mm, but I am not sure when the camera samples that during the exposure. I did realize though that I started at the wide end and zoomed in tighter from there, not the other way as I originally posted.

Just wonderful. We will obviously not make it this year. But my daughter wants to meet the wild horses and so do I. Let's meet soon

I'm moving out of Oslo at present. Travel distance to my girl friend will be 4 m instead of 40 km.

A snapshot of some photographic-related items ready to be transported to a new destination, taken this morning. I'm looking forward to four weeks of complete chaos.
