Post by: Gigas on August 27, 2017, 20:10:47

The TC might not even fit physically. If it does, there is no guarantee the outcome will be good at all. Try, then make up your mind on this combination.

Apparently the rear lens of 135 and the front lens of TC-14E will interfere, and thus they cannot put together.

Ok, and thank you. That will save me some money and problem.

Not what you asked, but I tried the Zeiss 135/2 ZF2 with the TC-14a.  It worked fine but wasn't the otherworldly miracle I had hoped for.  Pictures looked like they had been shot with a good Ai Nikkor.  Returned the lens and kept the converter.

Oh, I've heard about the technique to add an extension tube between the master lens and the teleconverter, which avoids the crashing of the optical elements on both sides.  I'm not sure if it gives the result you expect, though.

It does work, but only on short distance.
At infinity isn't possible to mount this lens with the TC

What about installing a PK-12 or a TC with the optics bored out for a bit of extra clearance? Do proceed with care so as not to damage either the lens or TC.

Dave Hartman who hasn't tried this because he only owns a PK-12 or two and none of the other items.

Inserting even a short PK-11a (8mm) between a lens and TC should provide sufficient clearance for most lenses, especially if the rear lens is already slightly recessed. However, whether adding extension and a TC to a lens will give good results remains to be seen.

This will result in a close focusing 190/2.8 lens. If such a lens is needed, perhaps the Tamron 180/3.5 or Sigma 180/2.8 macro lenses would be a better choice.

Lot´s of different ideas and that is good. I use on my Fuji X Pro-2 a XF-60mm and 11mm extension tube + 1,4 teleconverter and that gives me good IQ with a focal length of 84mm (APS-C)

I think the best plan is a prime lens. Other solutions may be fun to try and some will surprise. The only way to know is try.

"The only way to know is try" That is true but at a cost and why it is great to get som respons from other people who have tested this.
