Good afternoon everybody!
According to Chasseur d'images (https://www.chassimages.com/index.php/2017/08/16/nikon-d850-bis/), a company with lots of "inside information", the D850 will be released end of August and available September/October.
Chasseur d'images is a trustworthy source of information for several photo rumour sites... ;)
Somebody (http://www.nikonuser.info/fotoforum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3345&p=8441&sid=762e0c2ec8d678967d413238b0c7485b#p8442) who knows much more than I do, added August 24th...
Kindest regards,
Stany

Well, this is getting exciting!! I'm looking forward to the D850 because (for only one of many reasons) I would like to convert my D810 to an UV/IR "full spectrum" camera.

There's a NPS meeting in the Netherlands on the 24th with a "mystery guest".
-
Chris, retrieve your spy cam from its hiding place and go investigate!!

I assume there will be a wash of second-hand D810 bodies on the market in the near future. Perhaps I should pick up one for myself? My D800 is getting long in the tooth but still earns me good money., It might possibly retire in the disguise of a UV or IR camera.
-
I hope a iPhone will do, Andrea. :)
I'll take a XQD/SD card with me, you'll never know. But I'm afraid it will be behind glass and we only can gasp at it.
-
Bjørn, yes, I'd love to pick up some cast off D810s for dedicated IR conversions. I've really liked Bob Friedman's recent fisheye IR posts with the dedicated D810 conversion. My dedicated D5100 IR conversion is also getting a bit "old".
-
a used d810 would be nice :D

And the elephants are dancing on the graves of squealing mice.
Anyone for tennis, wouldn't that be nice?

I've cast about the idea of converting my D800.

Sounds great, yes ;)

I don't believe a damn word that Lorem Ipsum wrote. I want facts!

My 800 is getting beat. I can't service it locally and don't have a backup. A second body would allow me to go through the 3 or 4 week service cycle, including shipping, more conveniently.

the new D850 while driving the D810 down in price will send D800's even lower and for those that are looking for conversion cams they are an excellent choice for many reasons.

When I saw the test page I though I saw a D5X beside the D850 which would be a real suprise. What would they add except for the integrated housing?

The D850 announcement is now scheduled for August 24, 2017, something like 36 hours from now. Not sure whose time-zone, but probably Europe. We will see.

NikonRumors.Com has published a leaked copy of the press release. Looks very good to me!

That's not too bad of a price considering I paid $2,999.95 for my D800 back when it came out.

Wow. It is a Backlit Illuminated Sensor.
Makes it even more desirable!

It hopefully expands the dynamic range above the already impressive performance of the D810. More of a new sensor beyond expanding a D500 sensor out to FX area
