Fireworks season on the Ottawa River. Annual competition with 6 shows, this night it was Alberta. I've seen a few shows from the air and this one stood out. Finale is, as usual, blown out.

Fireworks: Thanks Fons and John. If any readers (both of you?) have not tried photography from a 172 then find your local flying club and go do it.
First time, I think, I ever got my 200-500 plus 1.7x actually in focus and it was the first shot of the partial eclipse in these parts.
Nice little star party for one star in the front yard of the neighbourhood Museum, too

Nominated to tear down, the old Social Welfare building, built in 1979 by architect Jac van Oers. He mixed the Colours of the blue trains with the brown metal of the train maintenance factory.

August, to me, is the month of the car shows. There have been some good car shows close to where I grew up for as long as I can remember, even though the organisation and location changed around a bit. The one constant has always been August.

We took a bus ride on Sunday. A friend of ours was introduced to his new job. He is now chief to 21 churches, a huge responsibility for a young man. He is very integer, intelligent, modest, hardworking and has a strong connection to God. If one can make it, it is him.

Ah, that is what Faststone also thought about the RAF- file, so I had to reset it to the original Portrait-mode.

'Sacred Heart' statue of Jesus in front of the Saint Joseph-church.
The statue was designed by Aug. Hermans (Roermond) in 1921 and made by the German "Düsseldorfer Broncebildgiesserei" in Oberkassel. The heart was in gold and financed by the population of Tilburg. By an attempt to steal the gold in 1981 it was replaced by copper.
