Our maestro / choirmaster said farewell today with a mass by Malcom Archer (*1952). He elevated this Choir from good to excellent. A real loss. Career is calling. Thankful for the 8 years we had with him.

The very first shot , I think is the one I like the most, it really transmits the feel of him directing the choir

Yes, The Fuji is a "good weather" camera, not to be used at ISO 3200 in a church.
The D600 is another category of quality. It is not the lenses, but the ISO Capability.
@Gary: The Fuji files are processed via PhotoNinja calibrated with Colour Checker Passport. But I am not happy.

Frank, good memories. I feel something not right with the colors..i don't know what.
Maybe I am just dreaming..do it a lot these days :)
Did you try to convert some to b&w?

Really. I am sure you have higher standards, (my are based on newsprint, lol), but I've tried PhotoNinja and pleased with the results. I am also happy with the Fuji @ ISO 3200, (but as noted earlier I have low standards).

The skin of the violinist is rather rough. Nik Dynamic Skin Softener could increase the skin appearence in this case.
BUT: trouble is quite different in both shots. The violinist is exposed to very hard light wich does not plase the skin.
In my case I have very low light levels with no direct light, wich I might have countered by overexposing a bit to reduce noise levels.

Yes, even after a translation from Deutsche to English. It reinforces my point of not being as particular as you. I am not a technical guy ... a little noise here, a few pimples there ... doesn't bother me. While an attention to detail at every single step, is very important in photography ... when it is all said and done ... in my opinion, a lot of that stuff drops into insignificance, especially when compared to the overall viewing impact of the image.

Three different churches. St Joseph ... St Mary ...St Johan Babtist and Petrus
due to staff scarcity they are connected to one big congregation in 5 buildings.
we also have a saint francis and a saint helena
