Very interesting to see so many newly constructed buildings. I guess none of these was there, what ... 5 years ago?
Is that København?
I like your very sober way to show them.
Do I see some overcompensation of perspective control in some (getting wider to the top)?
-
Thanks! - Yes these are new buildings and renovations of old within the latest years near Copenhagen.
Yes I/the customer prefer neutral or slight over compensation and an Iconic look,,,
BTW these are more or less uncropped to allow for text etc.
-
Great photos, but I see the need for the mew 19mm TS ;D
-
Brunevang stands out for me - but I like your parts better.
-
Thank you ;) I hear you 19mm would make my day for these,,,
-
These buildings seem crooked ;D
-
Thanks Jakov :o
-
these (very good) pictures show clearly that you need more free space for text, before you fall into the sea, by stepping back, buy the 19mm, just for safety reasons ;D
-
It seems that you used a PC lens in these pics.
The distortion in #4 disturbs me a bit.
-
These are shot with either 24mm stitched or 14mm and cropped, lusting for a PC lens though,,,
-
BTW I try to do as much PP as possible in the RAW files as to geometrical distortion, to keep image quality high, but it's difficult sometimes to correct fro all of the distortion types hence it's a compromise,,, also it's not fully controllable in PT Gui, But thank you for mentioning it!
I also get to do some PP on these :)

I like your work.

Hillerød is pretty well done, also given the difficult lighting.
-
Clean work Erik, I like it. Thanks for sharing.

Dug out an old but interesting thread to post this. :)

Something which was formed during 2017-2019. Named as "Bavarian Tower". For me, "modern" architecture looks always strange and ugly. oh well. Tha is not my world, "cup of tea". (taken with d850+PC19 in march 2019) (http://malus.exotica.org.uk/~zeg/muenchen/Mueriedenbstr032019c99.jpg)

Richard, if you find this building "strange and ugly", you should find difficulty in finding suitable words to describe the buildings currently under construction in Tokyo. :(
Googling images with the key words "Bayerischer Turm" doesn't show the building. Where is it in Munich?

Hello Akira. Now i know, the name have been changed. It is now known as "Bogenhausener Tor" -"Blue Tower". Sorry, it was my fault. The building is near to the fasttrack Munich-Berlin. end of Prinzregentenstreet - and Einsteinstreet. The end/beginning of munich. Position would be. 32U 695116, 5334888 - (lat/lon 48.13736, 11.62273) bye bye, richard

Richard, thank you for the clarification. If I remember correctly, there is a jazz club called Unterfahrt around in that area.

Interesting, camera and lens are a very strong combination in terms of IQ
If you isolate parts of the building there is an nice pattern too
Akira if there is a Jazz club in this area, that’s a good reason to remember the place
Thank you!

Hi, Nasos, while I was living in Munich, I used to go to Unterfahrt fairly often. I saw Mal Waldron performing solo piano there.

The final situation at the former Rodenstock area. Foto was taken in april 2019. (http://malus.exotica.org.uk/~zeg/muenchen/002842neubaurodenstockareal042019c85.jpg) The small little stream is near identical to the location where the large pipes have been lying around during the construction time. bye bye, richard

Last post from 2019? High time to revive this thread!
Today I shot these two images of the newly constructed head office of AFAS Software. Obviously there's money in selling software :)
The installation art in front of the building is called "You are the World" and is made by Lorenzo Quinn (a son of the famous actor Anthony Quinn).

Luc, these are amazing representations of an amazing facility. Beautiful rendition, as always.
-
Thanks a lot Akira, much appreciated. Since a year or so I have more spare time as I work parttime (24h a week) in preparation for early retirement.
Due to COVID the possibilities are of course limited so I have focused on shooting local themes (historic, urban, architecture).
My aim is to have enough interesting images to make some theme based picture books on Amersfoort and surroundings. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Thank, Luc !
Great framing and colours. ;)

Château de Martainville, (Normandie)
Near Rouen, France.
I had to compress this pic at around 1200 pixels to avoid a heavy moiré (on the brickwork). Very annoying issue.

Impressive shots, Luc. Great light too. That lens is pretty good and distortion free, not?

Thanks John! Indeed a very good lens, best zoom lens I've used. Distortion is very well corrected in-camera. In practice distortion is close to zero.

Nice application and image Luc of corrigated steel sheet as a building material.
Corrigated steel sheet (also known as corrigated iron in Australia and NZ) is also finding its way into house construction in my part of the world.

Gives a great 3D effect, Luc. Amazing details.
-
Thanks Hugh and John.
Hugh, looks to me like an ideal cladding material for your climate. The image depicts the entrance to a car bodywork repair business which also seems fitting to the steel sheet theme.
John, lots of details and sharpness indeed and the Z 50mm f1.8 S shines in these kind of images.

Original building and nice image, Bent.

It is definitely worth a visit, it is even more “strange” inside. I dis loose the bird, while getting the image upright ;)
Thank you Luc

Great image, are you travelling all over Jylland (waiting for Viborg, Aarhus, Silkeborg and so on ;))

I don't do much architecture photography, but this year: "Copenhagen has been appointed World Capital of Architecture by UNESCO-UIA".
I rarely cross the bridge, "Langebro" (Long bridge), from where these shots was taken and this stretch of the Copenhagen harbour area has changed since last time.
The cyclist/pedestrian bridge in the front is called "Lille Langebro" (Small Long bridge). Quote from VisitCopenhagen:
"Some 10,000 cyclists bike the bridge each day, ..., more people take the bike than the car to work or studies in Copenhagen."
In the foreground to the left, "Blox", finished in 2018. It's the home of the Danish Architecture Center. Quote: "Throughout the year, BLOX will be the epicenter of the celebrations" (World Capital of Architecture).
In the background in the center, "Den Sorte Diamant" (The black diamond) - one of my favourite contemporary buildings in Copenhagen. Quote: "..an extension to the Royal Library". ".. the building was finished in 1999 and is nicknamed 'the Black Diamond' for its shiny irregular facets on the outside that mirror the sea and sky."
+ a bridge tower on Langebro from the 1950s. Not the best angle.
Z7 + Z 24-70/4.

Lars, thanks for this good series, long time haven´t been there, I think I need to come back

Many thanks, Thomas - I'm glad you like them. Copenhagen has certainly changed since I was in that area, and I also need to come back. One place I need to visit is "Papirøen" - the Paper Island - to see the recent architecture that has "popped up" close to the national opera house. I'll wait until the construction work has finished and the crane has been removed ;D
If you are curious: https://paperisland.dk/the-architecture/
This is a crop of one of the former images - to the left is the front of the opera and to the right some of the recent architecture on the Paper island.
-
Architectural detail; Local private school, in between buildings. EXIF is wrong, not 28mm...I think it was the 80-200/4 AiS.
-
That arrange of lines, planes and textures makes for a quasi-abstraction. Works very well for me!

One of Carlsberg's buildings in Copenhagen - nicknamed Folkevognsbygningen - The Volkswagen building. The reason for its nickname is the discs that are coated with gold leaf - the rumor was that the cost of each disc was the same as a Volkswagen when it was built in 1969.
Named Lagerkælder 3, Storehouse cellar 3, originally a storehouse for beer in large horisontal storage tanks. The brewers nicknamed it The castle. It's now a hotel.

The then 5 year old opera house on FP4.

That view point choice transforms the building curves into organic slopes. A barren landscape with a powerful harhs sun. The human scale works wonderful for emotional contrast ans storytelling. Round it up with the overall graphics, contrast for deptht and visual impact.

@Bent: yes, very interesting and still a lot of construction work going on. I was lucky that there only was three road signs in the frame from that angle.
Many thanks Bent, Akira and Thomas.
Added a shot of a sculpture on the building depicting second generation brewer of Carlsberg - Carl Jacobsen - who founded Ny Carlsberg (New Carlsberg). That's also an element of the architecture I guess.

Thank you for commenting Paco. I was drawn to the intersecting curves contrasting with the straight lines of the paving. Overall I think the scene is quite sterile, it needed the kids in the frame to make it less "alien".
